Mother Mary inside of Simala Shrine

Simala Shrine, officially known as the Monastery of the Holy Eucharist, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage site in Carcar City, Cebu, Philippines. It has a special connection to the Virgin Mary, who is seen as a motherly figure and protector. The church was built on a hill in Lindogon village because people believed they saw the Virgin Mary there. This belief inspired the construction of the church, which was meant to be a safe and comforting place for people to go.

The history of Simala dates back to the late 20th century when the Marian monks of the Philippines established a small monastery in the area. Originally, it served as a simple place of worship and contemplation for the monks and local residents. However, its significance grew rapidly as stories of miraculous occurrences began to spread.

One of the most significant events in Simala’s history occurred in 1998 when a reported series of miraculous events took place, including the shedding of tears by a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This event attracted widespread attention and drew pilgrims from all over the country, cementing Simala’s reputation as a site of divine intervention.
